The Awesome Power Of Inspiration!

by , under Everything Else

Instead of writing about the usual this evening, I want to talk about the absolute awesome power of inspiration. I’m not talking about being inspired to go out and run 2 miles everyday which would certainly help me be a healthier person. I’m thinking more in the lines of the driving force that it takes for a writer to write an award winning novel or a musician to make an album that influences generations of fans for 25 to 50 years. The kind of inspiration that it takes for a poor young black girl growing up in 1950’s America to become a legendary icon worth a billion dollars.

It almost seems that some people are born with these traits. Or are they? At age 3 Oprah Winfrey gave her first public recital in church. She liked talking to people so much that by age 4 she said when she grew up she wanted to be paid to talk. Amazingly this is what she still does and without a doubt it has helped her to become one of the richest people in the world. A twenty year old novelist by the name of Stephen King sells his first book in 1967. He enjoyed it so much he has since wrote 40 others with a good portion of them made into movies. Stephen King went on to become one of the most successful writers of all time. Then there was an 18 year old gentleman by the name of John Winston Lennon from Liverpool who in 1957 arguably formed the most popular band in the world. The Beatles songs have transcended time and are to current day still some of the most popular songs in history.

Sure all of them had help along the way and the marketing didn’t hurt either but the main thing they all have in common was sheer power of inspiration. All of these figures were so deeply moved by their inspiration that what they did never really seemed like work to them. It’s not just dumb luck that these people became iconic and very wealthy individuals. They loved their jobs! Those of them that are still alive continue to do it. What does that tell you?

I guess the moral of this post, at least for me, is find something that you love doing so much that once you start it you can’t stop it. It’s never too late! Reach deep inside yourself and grab your own awesome power of inspiration. When you find it, harness it! Don’t worry about the money for if you love what you do it will come in droves with time.

Best Wishes To All!
