Just wanted to take a brief moment today to let my musician friends know that you are absolutely missing the boat if you aren’t taking the time to blog about your band and it’s music.
If you haven’t already done so you should purchase your own domain and make sure you use the band’s name as the domain name. Set up a blog preferably through the likes of WordPress.org which is a free blogging platform and probably the best I’ve seen and start blogging about your band and the music you play and write.
Believe me when I tell you that your fans want to know what the band did last night! They want to know how many beers you had, where you played, and if Johnny got drunk again or not.
You need to be able to get close to the fan base. Open up a comment section on the blog and try to spark conversation. It would be best if just one of the band members could personally write new posts everyday or at least every other day.
Try to keep the blog posting as consistent as possible. Tell your fans everything you guys are doing. This will spark conversation in the comment area and be sure to always answer the comments.
Before you know it you will have an entirely new fan base building. Probably one that you didn’t even know existed.
Your readers will spread the word about the blog for you and it will only generate more interest and a bigger base.
If you haven’t already done so, start blogging your band today.
