If I take my other websites into account and include the time that has expired since I started selling on eBay it means I’ve been marketing products online for over 6 years now.
…In all that time and even up to the current date I’ve always had one major problem with email marketing.
….and that problem is the idea or (golden rule) that I must email my list 6 to 7 times to get them to buy something.
Be it wrong or be it right I will never send anybody in my list the same message 6 to 7 times.
I figure we are all grownups.
We’re all hopefully intelligent enough to know if something is needed or wanted when it arrives in our inbox.
….I get plenty of unwanted cold, clammy and impersonal junk emails all day long as I’m sure do many of you.
The majority of it is deleted without even opening the mail.
Most of the gurus disagree wholeheartedly! They will tell you that I’m either stupid for not bombarding you with emails or call me a name such as Antichrist for saying it so public… but that’s the way I feel about it and that’s the way it is.
If that means I’m not a true email marketer then so be it.
I earn a few bucks with email and I’m certainly not afraid to include my affiliate link when I recommend a product.
If I’m sending something of real value to you then why do you care if I earn money or not?
Anyway….even though this so called problem with email marketing exist for me I still continue to happily pay $19.00 to AWeber every month because occasionally I do need to talk to my readers on a more private but still professional basis.
I always recommend them so profusely because the company is damn good at what they do.
I like the fact that I can add tons of html and send personalized emails to my list while it’s all being managed for me in one easy to use secured site.
For me, it’s more of a problem to build the kind of elaborate auto-responders that are offered by this provider.
I also hate being sold and hate being pressured as does much of the world.
Gurus blasting email addresses are a dime a dozen.
Sometimes just regular conversation or personal conversation is a whole lot more effective than mass email penetration to your client’s inbox.
I like to think my readers respect the fact that I don’t bombard them with sales letters like thousands of marketers have done to me over the past 6 years.
I’m more interested in keeping my name in front of them and sending information that I know will help.
As I move forward in this exciting and opportunity filled business I’m quickly learning that my one major problem with email marketing is not really a problem at all.
There is something to be said about integrity. A person who has integrity will typically adhere to moral and ethical principles. An Internet Marketer who can add a little bit of this well needed trait into their email marketing systems is sure to do well for themselves and their customers.
Statistically speaking your job is to get your product in front of your customer 6 to 7 times before they will actually buy. Wow….that seems like a lot doesn’t it?
It is a lot…..but it’s only an average. It’s a statistic. Some will never buy because they will delete your email before they ever even open it up. Others will buy on the first mail sent to them. For most people it takes 6 to 7 times of viewing a product before they purchase.
With those things in mind that pretty much sums it up to one very important factor. To profit from an email marketing system you’re going to need volume. You need a large list.
I don’t want to get back into the ways of acquiring that large list. You know you’re going to need to be creative. Give your visitors a good reason to sign up!
The point is this. If the law of average says you’re going to have to show the product to the customer 6 to 7 times then you darn well better do it with some integrity. People will shut you down quicker than flipping a light switch. This means you need to seriously woe them.
Send them new and extremely valuable information with each email you send. The product should be second in nature unless the valuable information is the product. Think about why they came to your site in the first place. Use your analysis and charts and grafts to really learn what your visitor needs. Then offer it to them.
In the end most will buy from you because you have given them what they want or need, you have clearly demonstrated the benefits and you have added some integrity into your email marketing system.
