Help Major Search Engines Crawl Your Site

If you haven’t already done so it would be a good idea to help the major search engines crawl your site. You can use a program called XML Sitemaps to do exactly that. They will index 500 pages for free. If you want to build a larger sitemap you can, however, they may charge you a small fee.

It is commonly known that the major search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN do not crawl all the areas of your website. For this reason, it may be wise to let them know which links are important and which are not. It could be that all of your links are important to you and the success of your site. I know mine are to this site.

As I previously stated, this particular site will allow you to create a sitemap of up to 500 pages for free. The coolest part about it, other than the freeness, is the simplicity of the program. All you do is enter your website address and it will start building the sitemap for you immediately. Once the sitemap is complete you’ll just need to upload it to the “public html”/ folder at your site and then go to your Google Webmaster Account and add your new sitemap URL.

Essentially what you are doing here is optimizing the search engine’s view of your site. Using this tool you can insure that they do not skip any valuable URL’s which they are highly known for doing. When URL’s are being skipped, you run the risk of losing money and your visitors miss out on the content you want them to see. It’s as simple as that.

Best Wishes
