Since just about everything in the world of Internet marketing comes with a cost I thought it might be friendly if I offer some free Internet marketing tips.
I have seen the information I’m about to tell you sell for as much as $97.00 on the Internet. Granted, the product is always wrapped up nicely with pretty bows and bells with whistles but it’s still the same information in condensed format. I assume some online marketers figure if somebody is going to be silly enough to pay it then they might as well be silly enough to charge an astronomical price for it.
The business of Internet marketing is tough enough as it is to find success. You shouldn’t have to pay through the nose just to get started.
Later…I’ll tell you the other reason why I titled this article “Free Internet Marketing Tips”.
But right now I want to share with you the free Internet marketing tips I wish I would have found when I first started and there’s only three of them.
Seriously…..If you’re starting this venture on your own, these are the three most important.
If they don’t scare you off then I’d say you might be ready to start your online business.
First – Do Your Homework - Proper research will save you a ton of money and a ton of time trying to fix mistakes that could have been avoided. Regardless if you plan on selling a product of your own or affiliate products you really need to understand the competition that will be involved in your field or niche. You can begin to study certain keywords using a tool such as the free Google AdWords Keyword Tool. It will help you narrow down the kind of traffic a certain idea, niche or keyword gets on a monthly basis. Because of the nature and sheer size of the Internet you will inevitably make some mistakes but nothing compares to proper research. If you study what your competition is doing right…. it will give you an immediate and solid edge over the 95% of people who blindly jump into Internet marketing without proper research.
Second…Treat Your Internet Marketing Business as a Business – It must be done this way. Don’t assume you can dive in halfheartedly and earn a fortune. It doesn’t work like that. To be successful at selling products or anything else online you need to cross over to the real world of business. This means you need to find a way to brand your business and build it up. You should always try to make professional decisions rather than impulse decisions. What’s good for you may not be so good for your business. Also….It may be quite sometime before you start to actually see a profit. To see quicker profits you might have to spend money on your Internet marketing business. If this is the case be sure you research any and all products before you purchase them.
Generally speaking…. and especially online….if it sounds too good to be true it probably is!
Finally – Become an SEO Expert – It’s pretty simple to build your own website with today’s web hosting companies. Most of them have made it as simple as copy and paste. It’s no longer necessary to have a college degree in computer programming and coding. It is an absolute must, however, to learn how to promote your website. By forcing yourself to become an SEO (search engine optimization) expert you will learn the steps necessary to draw interested individuals to your online business. A niche with low competition and a properly optimized site for search engines will be the ultimate factor deciding if your Internet marketing business will be successful or not. It can mean the difference between your site getting 10 visitors a day or 10,000 visitors a day. Which do you think is better? Of course you want the 10,000 visitors a day. Everybody does! Just know that in order to accomplish that you’re going to need to learn everything there is to know about good SEO. ….and what’s more…..you’ll need to keep up with it’s ever changing rules of the industry.
Ok…so that’s my three free Internet marketing tips.
I told you earlier I would share with you the other reason I titled this article “Free Internet Marketing Tips.”
It’s because the keyword “free internet marketing tips” is a very inviting title with a relatively low monthly traffic count as compared to other keywords in the same field. This means less competition for me to get most of the monthly traffic for that particular phrase.
I mean….you found this article easily right?
Think about it.
How long till I get paid was the first question I had also when I first started learning about affiliate sales and Internet Marketing. Everybody wants to make money so this is an understandable question.
The answer, however, is a little more complicated than that.
There are many variables that will ultimately decide how long it will take a person to start making money as an online affiliate for any company.
For Instance…Is your website designed to be profitable and easy to navigate? Do you even have a website and a blog? Is it just you working alone or do you have a team of people working with you? How much money do you have to invest? If you have little money to invest in your business, are you at least willing to invest a serious amount of your own quality time? Do you have plenty of targeted website traffic?
Does your site make it available for your customers and visitors to opt-in to your newsletter?
As you can probably tell, I could go on with the questions!
Now lets instead discuss facts.
The fact is that most affiliates, up to 97%, fail to ever make money with affiliate marketing or any other type of Internet Marketing. This is because they are working by themselves and lack the personal commitment it takes to develop a real working knowledge of online marketing.
Another fact……As with any other serious business, monetary gain will take place when relationships are built and trust is earned. You can build those relationships and that trust very fast with disposable money and extra people or you can build it slower with less money and on your own.
Either way…. it must be built!
Now, more than ever before in history, the business of Internet Marketing and online affiliate sales can be extremely lucrative for those who are willing to gain the knowledge and put forth the effort required to be successful at it .
Instead of asking “how long does it take for online affiliates to make money”……. try telling yourself who cares if it takes 2 months or 2 years.
Just know that if you’re committed to what you do and also enjoy your work while remaining sure to keep it about helping others you can’t go wrong.
Any online affiliate or Internet Marketer who can grasp that will earn droves of money over time.
Yesterday the supposed infamous Internet Marketing Guru John Chow sent me a retaliatory email saying “he played me”. For those of you who are unaware of what’s going on, I will explain after the email. Here’s the email he sent:
Here is the email I sent him prior to his response:
Ok…so this is what it all comes down to. A few days ago I sent John and quite a few other high profile Internet Marketing people an email asking if they would be interested in endorsing my new eBook. I also mentioned that I might be looking for some affiliates to help sell the book. Some of them were happy to help, others weren’t interested, some sent automated responses and others didn’t respond at all. This prompted me to write the previous post to this one titled “Advice For Internet Marketing Newbies”. I didn’t specifically name anybody in the post but John may have read it and taken it personally, I’m really not sure. Rather than me telling you exactly how the email I sent to John was written you can read it on his blog post “email of the week”.
He posted the private email for the whole world to read. From what I understand it really torques Big John off when a small time blogger or fellow Internet Marketer tries to get his help or advice.
The interesting thing is that I used to read his blog. When he’s not being a complete arrogant butthead, he actually does know what he’s doing. This is why I requested his help to begin with.
Instead he ended up alienating one of his readers and possibly more. You will notice in his email to me how he really feels about his readers and potential customers. They’re all just a bunch of pawns trying to get traffic from his blog. He only cares about their money, not them!
While I understand the concept of drawing traffic to a blog and possibly trying to get higher PageRank, I certainly appreciate every comment I get. I’m also, however, willing to bet that most of the people commenting on his blog are regular readers.
I personally find it funny that a guy who is supposedly making millions of dollars in the business of Internet Marketing would be interested in “playing” a relative new comer asking for some advice or help. I mean… does he feel threatened or what?
Needless to say, I have no interest in taking this any further unless he continues his games. It’s not fair to those of you who read this blog on a regular basis. I just couldn’t let him get away with the blatant disrespect of my privacy.
I guess the underlying point is still the same though. Don’t ever become too big for your own good. Always try to help people out if you can, especially if they are potential clients of yours. As I stated in the previous post, it’s ok to learn from the Guru but don’t ever become the Guru, especially one like John Chow. Don’t go and start “playing” the very same people who serve to help make you what you are.
Today I want to take a minute to tell you about a friend of mine who currently earns almost a half a million dollars a year from the comfort of his own home. Actually, to be more accurate, he usually does it on his laptop while he’s traveling all over the world!
His name is Yaro Starak and he lives in Australia. Yaro is not a genious. He just loves what he does and works very hard at it. He’s been able to build himself a nice little fortune by creating websites, writing blogs, building memberships sites and making true connections with his readers and visitors. Yaro used his blog and his newsletter most recently to build a strong following of people so he can teach his Membership Site Masterplan. This program shows how he earned $200,000.00 off one membership site and his visitors happily paid for the information.
If you are at all interested in this field I highly recommend getting over to his site and checking out what he has to say. Yaro has much to offer the world in the way of Internet marketing!
As I’ve stated in previous posts it can be very tough starting and running a business website. It can be even tougher to actually profit with it. You can, however, become very wealthy if you stay committed to working hard, always remain willing to learn and adopt a never gonna quit attitude. Unfortunately 99% of the people who try generally give up and fail just before they begin to profit.
I recently stumbled onto a new outlet for musicians to promote their music through the Internet that I wanted to share. It’s called musicSubmit. The thing that fascinates me so much about these guys is what they actually do! Basically you register with them online and submit your music to their site. They will then proceed to submit your music and materials to a combination of Internet based resources for you such as radio stations, online music magazines, blogs, directories, podcasts and Indie Record Labels.
Even more cool is that they also provide you with full reporting. After you have submitted your material they will notify you by email when your submissions begin. You can then log into your account and go to the reporting section and see a complete list with running totals of the sites to which your music and materials have been submitted. The reporting page will include website link, date sent, site name and type of site. This allows you to keep track of the sites that have reviewed your music.
The company was set up by a musician who was spending too much of his time marketing his music on the Internet and too little time actually playing out and making new music. What an excellent idea! You get to create more and better music which is what you love anyway and they do all the Internet marketing for you. musicSubmit has basically taken your hours and hours of Internet research work and submitting out of the picture. They do the Internet promotion for musicians and musicians get to do what they love doing! Cheers to musicSubmit!
Dictionary.com defines complacency as – a feeling of quiet pleasure or security, often while unaware of some potential danger, defect or the like; self-satisfaction or smug satisfaction with an existing situation, condition, etc.
These words ring so true to me and if you bare with me I’ll explain why. First I believe it’s time I formerly introduce myself to everybody. Hopefully there are questions about who I am. If I’m really lucky some of you have seen my name on plenty of the articles on this website and maybe in some of the niche categories, ezines, forums and blogs as well as some of the article directories out there such as eHow.com, Ezine Articles, ArticleBase.com and GoArticles.com. It’s important for me to keep my name visible. At first I wasn’t sure about plastering it all over the website and the Internet but now I am glad I did. I’ve decided to be proud of what I’m up to these days!
It’s been about a year now since the early inception of Modern Day Peasants. I started this website and blog with the intentions of helping musicians and anybody else who wants to learn how to get a leg up in this world. I firmly stand by that! For the most part we are all Peasants living in a modern day world. Music is something that really makes life a better place for me and many others. I love to play and record and have for years but unfortunately I’m a better writer than I am a singer. I have great admiration for musicians because of their struggles and hardships they must endure on their journey in getting paid to do what it is they love.
It shouldn’t be any secret that I do this for the advertising money as well. I mean that’s why you start a website right? I guess it could be because you have something you want to tell the world but that’s getting off the point a bit. For me it’s about sharing valuable information I’ve obtained over the last few years with everybody I can so they may better themselves. The money is good too. This is what I enjoy doing!
You see, I spent 16 years of my life working my butt off trying to get up the corporate ladder as a consultant in the service and repair end of an automobile dealership. It was a decent business to be in. I met lots of people and good friends. The problem was that it got to a point to where it became stagnant to me. The business pays you pretty well and kind of pulls you in and makes you complacent.
This brings me to the reason behind the title of this particular post. I had many mentors in the car business along the way but the one who influenced me the most was a good friend and the owner of the dealership I worked for at the time. We started working together in the beginning of my “career” in the auto world. He was my big boss and very young to own a car dealership. At that time Brian was 38 years old and making over half a million dollars a year and enjoyed everyday of his life not just because of the money he made but because he truly liked helping people acquire transportation and working with a variety of different people. I was about 21 at the time. He loved his business very much and I had never seen anybody so excited about what they do. He was though! The very first meeting we ever had he told me to never ever become complacent in life. It kills personal growth he said. I nodded in agreement.
For some reason Brian and I hit it off early on and he tought me many things over the years about loving what you do and getting rewarded for it. He was so successful because he truly loved that business. I did not, however, love the car business. I just happened to be good at mimicking my friend and acting like I enjoyed it. In the real world I was more introverted unless I was around a customer because I wasn’t truly happy being there. If a customer was with me I would put on the outgoing happy social act. I got stuck! I was complacent in that business for years simply because the money was decent.
Later I discovered my personal complacency cost me so much more because I could have been gaining my own personal growth and tapping my thirst for inside knowledge about the Internet much earlier in my life than when I did. With proper training and a little bit of foresight the Internet can make anybody’s dream a reality simply because it is so vast. I find it fascinating and intoxicating. It’s also much easier for me to relate with people in general on the web. I suspect because there are more of you like me out there. I guess getting back to current times hindsight really is 20/20.
The point is I’m in my late 30’s now and about three years ago I finally heard what my friend Brian had warned me about so many years before. I had allowed complacency to kill my personal growth and decided I was going to make the necessary changes to better my quality of life. I left that business and self studied my way to a newer happier life.
I dove deep into the realms of Internet Marketing for three years straight and it has brought me here. Better late than never. Don’t let complacency kill your personal growth too! If you aren’t happy with the life you currently own and the direction it’s heading. Make a change! If you need some help along the way and you find those changes leading you toward the wonderful and diverse world of Internet Marketing and web based businesses with some added music to boot this site can help you greatly. If you ever have direct questions I will always be happy to help.
Here’s to our continued success!
Let me start by saying that I’ve been making money online for a couple of years now and pretty darn good money at that. All the while I held onto my full time job during the day and worked on the Internet at night. It all started with eBay a couple years ago. I would sell small little things around the house that I didn’t use anymore or never used or whatever the case was. After I made a few bucks doing that I actually ordered inventory and started selling my own inventory as well and made even more money. Over the course of those couple years I also experimented with building more than a few websites but had never really been successful with them. Recently I started Modern Day Peasants, the website you are currently reading this on. Modern Day Peasants has taken off on a league of it’s own and is rapidly becoming hugely successful. We now have over 5,000 visitors a month and it’s climbing fast. I say this not to brag but to re-inforce the idea of actually making good money from home. That leads me to the point of the title of this article.
I may dissappoint a few of you in telling you this, but the main point of this article is that there are no secrets to making money online. You either set your mind to do it or you don’t. A little bit later in this article I’m going to tell you the #1 way to start your journey making good money online. Heck, you never know you might even get rich. Some people are happy leaving their home and their families early in the morning and fighting traffic to go to a 9 to 5 job. If that’s what makes you happy then so be it. However, I’m willing to bet if you have taken the time to actually read this article then you are not one of those people who are happy getting up and doing that 9 to 5 bit.
I don’t want to ruin your day completely. There are certainly little tricks that you do learn along the way as far as increasing traffic to your website, having good content, making sure you have alternative text in your pictures for the search engines to see and so forth. It requires your attention and devotion. I think the most important aspect next to those two things is that you have to really like or even love what you’re doing to be successful at it. Again, there are no secrets. There is only knowledge. The trick is how do you get that knowledge!
With that being said, let me now tell you the #1 way for you to start making money online. It has taken me approximately 2 and half years to get to my current online status. If you have little or no website building and e-commerce experience and you’re truly serious about learning to make a living on the Internet then you need to check out a little company called SBI! That’s short for Site Build It! They are by far, hands down…way out in front of all the competition and they have been around for years. Their program is so vast and so easy to follow that you can learn what has taken me years to learn in weeks if not days. They can be the difference of your website doing just ok or your website doing very well. I have already taken the time to fully understand the scope and the reach of this company and the capabilities of what they have to offer and I am now part of their program. This is not some fly by night website. Site Build It is not just a company either. They are an enigma. A true winning idea. An all in one package!
Sometimes I actually feel stupid. If I had come across SBI a couple years ago instead of now I would probably already own homes in California, Hawaii and Florida. I’m going to give you a link to their site below. Please take your time reading about the company and what they stand for. Do your research. Read the true testimonials from other clients of theirs who have learned what I have learned and have put that information to work for them! Don’t just take my word for it. There are multiple pages of information starting from the very first page. Learn now!
