Meet Greet and Engage

by , under Internet Marketing

It’s ironic that a reforming social introvert like myself would be writing a blog post titled “Meet, Greet and Engage” but that’s exactly what I’m doing.

Meet greet and engage or “MGE”, as I like to refer to it, is a system I use to remind myself the importance of “social conversation” and “brief encounters” as related to personal life and/or business.

The biggest thing I’ve learned so far in my new life journey is that you can’t advertise or backlink your way to the top.

While the above mentioned tasks are certainly needed, it’s more about connecting with people.

The non social offline world we live in is horrible and I was certainly no different until recently.

Nobody makes it a point to say hello….nobody introduces themselves……nobody engages anybody!

We’re like a bunch of zombies just walking aimlessly in the streets without purpose.

So I have begun to make it a point to meet, greet and engage with the world. Offline it ranges from initiating conversation with perfect strangers to seeking like minded social meetings and everything in between. In the online world I try to spark up conversations as well through the use of blogging, genuine blog commenting, social networks, email, etc…

Meeting and engaging with others, in general, can do wonders for our own personal lives as well as our business lives.

You never know who’s sitting next to you in a train station, at a coffee shop, restaurant or anywhere else for that matter. You could be sitting right next to somebody with a connection to your business and never even know it because you failed to say hello and introduce yourself. The same applies to online forums and social networking groups and such.

You can meet and start a conversation with almost anybody by simply complimenting a piece of clothing they may be wearing or maybe saying “Hi, I’m ___, how are you? Twenty minutes later you just might find that you have much in common and end up exchanging business cards.

To understand the positive effects of MGE you only need to remember how it was on your first day of a new class in school or possibly your most recent organized meeting you attended.

You know what I’m talking about. At the start everybody is quiet and nobody knows anybody. The teacher or organizer requests that everyone stand up and introduce themselves and you suddenly feel that sick feeling in your stomach. But by the end of the day you found that you made at least one friend or contact if not many and nobody laughed at you.

So we basically just need to take this process and use it on a daily basis. It’s not as scary as you may think it to be and I promise only 1 out 10 will bite….lol.

For me it’s easier to remember MGE than it is to remember Meet Greet and Engage. By keeping the notion of MGE at the front of my thoughts I’m able to grow faster on both a personal level as well as a business level.

The more people I meet and engage, the more well rounded I become and the more successful I feel.

Please share some of the ideas you have used to meet, greet and engage with others and how has it helped you to grow on a personal or business level.

Treat Procrastination Like A Disease

by , under Business

Procrastination will kill your online business. For this reason you must learn to treat it like a disease. You have to give yourself a little medicine every morning and every evening!

Start by writing down your online business goals and understand that they are goals. Remember that old cliche “Rome wasn’t built in a day?” The same goes with your business. Make the writing of your goals special and possibly even frame them above your desk so you can see them all the time. Sometimes it helps to attach pictures. Maybe it’s a house you want to buy when you start to show good profits. Possibly you desire to do some world traveling when you become wealthy so maybe you could attach pictures of the places you want to visit. Whatever the case may be you need something to constantly remind you of where you want to end up in your online business endeavors. Something to help keep procrastination in it’s place.

It has been proven that it takes 30 days for a person to form a habit. Get yourself into the habit of skimming through your goals every morning and every evening. On a separate sheet of paper or poster you should write down all the tasks that you know you need to do on a daily basis such as updating content, updating ads, updating blog, answering emails, writing articles, building website traffic, networking with other businesses and individuals and so forth. I don’t recommend framing this one because it’s possible that you will have to add to it regularly. Place this list above your desk also. Put it right next to your goals so you can easily read it every morning and evening too.

Don’t let your own procrastination get the best of you. Beat it at it’s own game. Treat it like a disease and after some time of doing this you will find yourself well on your way to enjoying a successful online business. Your goals are closer than you think.

Best Wishes!

Where To Start Earning Money Online?

by , under Everything Else, Internet Marketing

It seems that everyday now I get an email from a reader or an acquaintance and sometimes friends and relatives as well. They all ask me the same question.  Where do I start earning money online and is there really money to be made?

I will try to answer those questions separately for everybody reading.

My advice is to start with whatever you think you can handle. Regardless if that means joining a survey company and doing one or two surveys a month and making an extra $20.00 to $50.00. Maybe just sign up for a multi level marketing (MLM) company and send and receive referrals strictly by email. If you really want to take a leap then set up a website or blog and start marketing your own product or affiliate products. This is the sincere beauty of the Internet. It really doesn’t matter. I tell everybody that throws me that question the same thing I’m getting ready to tell you. Do Something! The worst thing you can do is sit and talk about it. Anybody can do that. Just talking about it won’t make you a dime! Most of you already know this but if you want something in life you have to reach out and grab it. Chances are that it won’t come to you so you have to go get it. Start by doing it part time between your other activities…ie..work – family and social life. Get on the Internet and start reading and networking with other people in search of the same thing. You will find that while there are plenty of scammers out and about there are also plenty of good people who are willing to help you along because they’ve been there themselves and remember how it was and because they genuinely want to help others. Good people do still exist in this world! You just have to wade through some bad to find them.

As to whether or not money can be made. The answer is a resounding yes! Considering the fact that there are 1.6 billion Internet users in the world and almost 252 million in North America alone I would say your odds are pretty good. It’s not a question of can you earn money. It’s a question of will you reach out and grab it.  More and more people are earning money everyday online. It’s because they stumble across something that actually got their attention and they were willing to take a chance and sacrifice some of their time. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that the Internet is unlike other businesses because in a sense it’s not. Most businesses require an investment on your part be it online or out in the streets. Some are small and some are large. It’s like anything else. It just depends on your interests and what you think may keep you interested and what you can afford. If you can’t afford much right now then go after the freebies and take it day by day. With bigger risk usually comes bigger rewards so if you can afford some money to invest then look into a few larger opportunities. There are so many out there!

My personal recommendation is start right away! Get involved with as many different ideas and opportunities as you possibly can but always do your research prior to jumping in. I have tried to list here on my website and blog the ideas and businesses that stood out to me. I will continue to find more of them for you but there are hundreds of thousands of others out there as well. I am personally a fan of multiple streams of income so I like to leverage my time and money in as many opportunities as possible. This way I always have money coming in from multiple places. That works for me but may not work for you. The main point is as I stated earlier…..Do Something! Don’t just sit there at your computer wishing that something would come along and make you rich. Earning money online is like any other business. If you want to succeed you have to work hard at it. It doesn’t happen overnight for 99.9% of us but I can tell you one thing for sure as somebody who does earn decent money online. If you put your mind to it, set some goals for yourself and start doing something right this minute you will be a whole lot closer than you were yesterday.
