Become an eBay Power Seller

Actually….I should have titled this…. What It Takes To Become an eBay Power Seller on the Cheap.

This is how I did it with very little of my own money invested.

First we’ll begin talking about eBay in general. I’m sure most of you know by now that eBay is a world wide internet auction website. Anybody in the world can become an eBay Power Seller with a home computer and some basic computer skills. It’s like anything else you do. Everything depends on how much time you have available to dedicate to it. If you have between 2 and 3 hours a day to spare you can earn a nice little residual income. There are many sellers who earn a full time permanent income. These folks spend more than 2 to 3 hours a day on their eBay business. Some of them spend 4 to 6 hours. I’m sure there are those that spend 7 to 10 hours a day selling on eBay as well. I personally dedicate about 3 hours a day on the site. This includes answering customer questions as well as labeling, packaging and shipping.

I recommend beginning by setting up an account with eBay. Just log onto their site at www.ebay.com and click register new account. They will prompt you for the rest of the information needed. It’s a very secure site so money transcations are not an issue.

It would be wise to set up a PayPal account as well. eBay will ask you to do so when setting up your account.

When you’re ready to start selling consider cleaning out your garage, attic, basement and find some items that you can part with or that you don’t use anymore.

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

People love to buy stuff. The nice thing about eBay is you can buy or sell new and used merchandise. If it’s used then you’ll need to let your customer’s know it’s used. The same applies if you are selling something new.

Anyway…. start listing some of these items for auction. You can put a reserve on the item if you would like. This means that you will only sell it at a certain minimum price that you choose or higher. Sometimes it’s better to not use a reserve price if you can avoid it. More buyers will be attracted if they know there is no reserve on the item with a low starting acution price.

Next, set the term for your auction and sit back and watch people bid up the price of your old “whatever it is” you are selling. After the first item sells, leave that money in your PayPal account. Don’t spend it. Go ahead and list something else. You can list multiple items if you want. Everytime you sell an item do not spend the money. Just leave it in your PayPal account.

Be sure to always be courteous to your customers. Answer their e-mails quickly so they don’t have to wait a long period of time to get the answer. Ship the item(s) out that your customers buy promptly. Don’t make them wait very long to get their stuff. Treat them as you would want to be treated when you buy something.

During your first few days selling you will have some spare time to read the eBay forums and navigate your way thru the eBay site. They have some awesome tutorials and help sites as well. Learn and then learn some more. Read and then read some more.

Continue selling and always leave the money in your PayPal account. Don’t spend it no matter how much you want to.  After you have finally sold everything you can possibly think of you should have a few hundred to a few thousand dollars in your PayPal account. This is the point where you now get to become an eBay Power Seller.

Many people believe they need to have a niche item to become an eBay Power Seller. This is simply not true. People love to buy things. Many enjoy buying stuff on the internet as long as they feel they can trust you. (convenient)

People love to buy things on eBay in particular because of their solid reputation and core business practices.

Now….. try to think about something that people either need to have and purchase regularly or something they want to have and purchase regularly.

Take your money that you have been saving in your PayPal account and buy that item or items in bulk to get them at a discounted rate. This part will take some research on the internet and other avenues but trust me when I say there are bulk deals out there for anything that can be purchased. Consider checking into a trusted partner for your wholesale and dropshipping needs. Get the stuff shipped to your home or office and start selling it on a regular basis in multiple listings if you want. The whole time you should be taking good care of your customers and being courteous and answering questions via e-mail and shipping their merchandise promptly. After enough sales your PayPal account will build up very fast again.

Keep selling and selling and restocking and buying more merchandise to sell.

Change it up a little if you want and add new items. Before you know it eBay will be sending you a certificate in the mail congratulating you on your milestone of becoming an eBay Power Seller.

The money will keep coming as well just so long  as you genuinely treat your customers well and ship their items promptly.
